Synergy Rail, contracted by Network Rail, ensured the safety assurance of the Paddington Train Detection, resulting in an improvement in the reliability of the train detection from 0 to 12mph in the Thames Valley. Synergy Rail's team responsibilities included providing direction to the project, train detection suppliers, and interfacing project representatives. This involved reviewing relevant documents, attending necessary interface meetings, representing NR in managing any interfaces with third-party independent bodies, and generating required safety deliverables to demonstrate safety assurance and technical compliance.

The Synergy Rail team established an efficient and effective methodology to independently assure the technical compliance of the system delivered by Alstom, including Safety Verification, Interoperability Authorization and Product Acceptance and obtained APIS and NRAP approval to successfully commission in November 2023.
