COMPASS (PS)

Synergy Rail was commissioned by Network Rail (NR) to support the progress of the COMPASS project to operational trial running in the alpha phase (15 point ends) and beta phase (60 point ends). The COMPASS 1C (PIDR) was proposed as an alternative to "Clip and Scotch" under certain failure conditions.
This aimed to:

  • Reduce delays for certain types of failure. 
  • Introduce improvements to staff safety.
  • Develop and deploy the Points Inhibit and Detection Repeat System (PIDR) into operational trial.
