Abellio hired Synergy Rail to support their bid for the East Midlands and Southeastern franchise digital railway offering. The Synergy Rail team was selected because of its extensive experience with digital railway projects, including traffic management, LINX, and ETCS.

Activities & Deliverables

The Synergy Rail team produced an outlined concept of operation to support the bid proposal, including the following:

  • Development of a procurement and funding strategy in collaboration with SERL, NR, and suppliers
  • Production of a management and business change plan
  • Development of the initial Operational Handbook
  • Creation of an Outline Configuration Management Plan for the system, drawing on previous Traffic Management and complex software-based development experience
  • Production of an outline Product Approval Plan, referencing the NR product approval process, associated standards, and the project's interaction with it throughout its lifecycle
  • Development of a System Safety Plan based on extensive safety management and Traffic Management experience
  • Establishment of an initial maintenance strategy covering the operational system
  • Formulation of an initial training strategy
  • Conducting a staff impact analysis
  • Establishment of a risk model to facilitate the management of risks throughout the system development lifecycle
